THREE NAMED FOOTBALL ALL-AMERICANS

December 17, 2004

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Three Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) football players were named All-Americans as the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette announced their annual Teams this week.

Simpson College junior defensive lineman Jason Ripke (Newell, Iowa/Newell-Fonda) was named to the AFCA All-America Team and was a First Team Football Gazette All-America.

Wartburg College senior defensive back Brian McIntire (Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake) was named to the AFCA All-America Team and Central College senior linebacker Mark Sanger (Britt, Iowa/West Hancock) was named to the Football Gazette Third Team.

Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-America Team is composed of 78 players on a First, Second and Third Team, and for the 15th consecutive season is selected by sports information directors across the country. The AFCA All-America Team is comprised of one team with 25 members. The AFCA has selected an All-America Team since 1945 and the team is chosen by the coaches.

D3football.com will announce its All-America Team on Saturday, December 18, in conjunction with its broadcast of the Stagg Bowl, the Division III national championship game.
