Burns, Wartburg College, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls Burns, a sophomore, captured medalist honors at the 2007 Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championship, which concluded Oct. 6 at The Meadows G.C. near Asbury, Iowa. Burns, who shot IIAC-season-low rounds of 75 in rounds one and four, posted a 72-hole total of 311 (75-78-83-75) to beat Loras' Stephanie Schwartz by 13 strokes. Burns' tournament total ranks as the second-lowest 72-hole total in IIAC Championship history. She also paced Wartburg to its third league title in four years and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at Centennial Oaks in Waverly in May. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week) |

Burns, Wartburg College, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls Burns, a sophomore, is the clubhouse leader following the first weekend of the Iowa Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Burns is first in the field of 43 golfers after shooting rounds of 75 and 78 for a 153 36-hole total, three shots ahead of teammate Daina Deery. Her first-round 75 is the lowest round carded in the IIAC this fall, helping to lead the Knights to a 16-stroke advantage with two rounds to play. |
Sept. 23 | Kate
Thompson, Wartburg College, Webster City, Iowa/Webster City Thompson, a junior, finished tied for third in a field of 80 golfers at the Division III Midwest Classic at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis. Thompson fired rounds of 80-83=163 to finish six shots behind the meet’s co-medalists and was the highest placing Iowa Conference golfer in a field which contained many of the region’s top teams. She led her team to a third-place finish. |

Deery, Wartburg College, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls Deery, a sophomore, carded her third sub-80 round of the fall season with a 76 en route to medalist honors at the Luther Norse Invitational. Deery placed first in the 76-golfer field by a single stroke, leading the Knights to the team title by 26 strokes with a 316 total. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week) |

Thompson, Wartburg College, Webster City, Iowa/Webster City Thompson finished in a tie for third place at the Wartburg Fall Invitational, 12 shots behind the tournament medalist. Thompson, a junior, helped guide Wartburg to fourth-place finish in a field that included five programs in the current GolfStat top 10 head-to-head poll and seven programs that were ranked in GolfWorld’s Division III preseason top 25. With scores of 80-79=159, Thompson was the highest finishing Iowa Conference golfer in tourney field. |

Deery, Wartburg College, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls Deery, a sophomore, tied for sixth individually in a 109-golfer field at the UW-Eau Claire Fall Invite after firing rounds of 77-85. Deery led Wartburg to a top-four team finish (fourth – 668) among a strong regional and national field that included three teams that placed in the top-10 at the 2007 NCAA Championships (Gustavus Adolphus – 3rd, St. Thomas – 5th, St. Thomas – 7th). Deery, who was the highest placing IIAC golfer at the meet, fired the only sub-80 score of any league golfer in the field. |
